International Women's Day with Frida Kahlo

Hey, teachers!

A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to visit an immersive exhibition in São Paulo about Frida Kahlo. Not only was I mesmerized by what I saw throughout the experience, I was also completely in love with Frida's personality, ideals and mission. Here's a bit of what I saw:

Having the chance to step into Frida's world makes us question our boundaries for creativity and, as an educator, it made me reflect about my mission, which goes way beyond teaching the language. I'm a strong believer that Education is the catalyst for real and deep change in society and that's why I decided to bring a bit of what I learned about Frida to two very nice lessons to celebrate the International Women's Day.

A2-B1: In this lesson, Ss will have the chance to dive into Frida's personality and learn new vocabulary to describe strong women as well as functional language to do so. This is a vocabulary lesson with strong speaking practices throughout the lesson.

B2-C2: In this lesson, Ss will have the chance to learn more about NGOs Frida supported as well as reflect upon the mission of other strong women in society and how they impact the world around them. It's a task-based lesson where Ss will have to create an NGO to embrace a cause inspired by a strong woman in society. They will also put together a launch event for their NGO.

Let me know how it went! I'd love to receive your feedback!

See you around!
